I got to feel Betty kicking last night.

As a present from E, I spent this afternoon at pacific raceways doing open lapping in my M coupe, and getting a 30-minute session in our dream car, a lotus exige. the exige session was awful -- in that now I really really want one. before I wanted one in theory, since I'd read so much about how great they are to drive. now I know. I love my car, and it's great fun on the track, but the exige was on another level, perfectly controllable and hanging on in every corner. and the sound! the M coupe delivers power and sound like an efficient killing machine; the exige delivers it like a rabid panther that's just heard that you insulted its mother. I could not resist burying my foot in the accelerator coming out of every turn just to hear it scream.

I don't want to get mushy or anything, but (among her many other fine qualities), E is awesome and gave me, as a new year's present, a day of racing lessons at pacific raceways, including lessons in our dream car, a Lotus Exige. Here's a lap video.
